Replying to @JaylinPaige You will be presented with an issue that is debatable, along with different perspectives from multiple, competing sources on the issue. Your job is to take a position on one of perspectives and draft an argumentative essay on that position. Why is the position you picked correct? Why are the others wrong? What are some of the pros of the others perspective, and why are those pros not sufficient for picking those other perspectives? You do not have to address all the different perspectives, but you should address the one you pick, and at least one of the competing perspectives. For normal test takers without accommodations, you will have a 15-minute planning period to read through the issue and perspectives. From there, you will have 35 minutes to draft your response (you can still reference the perspectives while writing, they don’t disappear). Your pre-writing/brainstorming notes will NOT be seen by law schools when you submit your writing sample. You CAN bring in your own personal experiences and values into your writing as a valid source of evidence. While there is no standard approach to paragraph structure/organization, here is how I would structure my writing sample: P1: Pros for your side. What are some reasons this perspective is better than the others? Be sure to cite multiple pieces of evidence from the source and your own life. P2: Acknowledging pros for the other perspectives, then rebutting them and discussing why the other viewpoints are faulty. P3: Wrap up the pros for your side and conclude with your perspective again. You do not need an intro that gives a background on the situation. They already know what it is, so just jump right into your opinion. Aim for around three paragraphs or so, but quality is more important length! There are three samples on law hub you can try! #LSAT #lsattips #lsatpreparation

If you don’t know, now you know: Beginning July 30, 2024, the LSAT Writing Section is getting a big overhaul. Now called the LSAT Argumentative Writing section, test takers will now face a brand new writing task and the time allotted for the section has increased to 50 minutes — 15 minutes for prewriting and 35 minutes for writing. Blueprint LSAT instructor Gerry breaks down the differences between the new LSAT Writing section vs. the old one and shares a strategy to help you complete the task with ease. LSAT Argumentative Writing will roll out next week. August test takers can start completing their writing sample on July 30. ✨ One more thing to note: Although LSAT Argumentative Writing will remain unscored for now, LSAC will use data gathered in the 2024-2025 testing cycle to assess the validity of a scored LSAT writing section in the future. ✨ Click the 🔗 in bio to learn more about the new LSAT Argumentative Writing section and to see a sample promo!
