I thought there was no way there was an alive chick in there anyways, so I decided to continue to open it. I very slowly peeled open the white membrane, and then the clear sac, and out came the chick. Its head flopped to the side and I knew it was dead. I cupped it in my hands and suddenly its beak opened for a breath. I rubbed its head and it chirped! It was breathing and chirping and I could not believe it! I hatched an egg! Definitely not the way it should’ve been hatched, but it happened. It could’ve been placed in a carton if it never cracked in the first place! I placed it under the hen and she accepted it.
