Video Title / Caption: Here’s a tutorial on how I keep my polymer clay clean while working, plus some extra methods that might be helpful 🙂‍↕️🫧 Step 1 Prepare your workspace If possible, clean the room to reduce the amount of dust. If that’s not possible, thoroughly wipe your work surface with wet wipes or alcohol, and then wipe it again with dry paper wipes. ❗️Do not use fabric, as it will leave lint. Step 2 Clean your tools and hands If your tools are stored in the open, wipe them before working. After washing my hands, I clean them with alcohol and dry them with a paper wipe. Then I roll a spare piece of white clay in my hands to pick up any remaining dust and lint. Step 3 Keep the clay clean during the process Check your piece regularly and remove any dust or fibers immediately. The deeper they get into the clay, the harder they will be to remove later. Step 4 Clean the piece before baking After finishing sculpting, clean the surface with a cotton swab and alcohol or a wet wipe. I try to fully clean my pieces at this stage so they go into the oven completely clean. ❗️It’s important not to use too much alcohol, as it can damage the clay surface (especially translucent clay) and weaken small details. Step 5 Clean the piece after baking If there are still particles left, carefully remove them with a blade, sandpaper, or a nail file. After that, rinse the piece under running water or wipe it with alcohol (if there is no pastel shading on the piece). Some Notes • A humidifier near your workspace can help reduce dust in the air. • When combining white and colored clay, it’s best to clean using motions from the white area toward the colored area. • After cleaning, almost invisible long fibers may remain. They become especially noticeable after glazing, so check your piece under good lighting and remove them with tweezers. • You can also use tape to pick up dust from baked pieces before glazing. This works especially well on dark clay. 🤍 If you found this tutorial helpful, I’d really appreciate your likes and shares 🥹🤍 #polymerclay #claytips #diyart #cleanclaytips #crafttutorial
