Stop faking your overhead mobility. ๐ If your ribs flare the moment your arms go up, you aren’t moving from your shoulder—you’re stealing range from your spine. When you lose the ”stack“ (chest-pelvis alignment), your scapula loses its base. It can’t glide, so your back arches to compensate. Stretching your shoulders won‘t fix this. Realigning your core will. Ready to stop the compensation and unlock true movement? ๐ Comment “ALIGN” and I’ll send you my 28-Day Full Body Alignment Protocol! ๐ฉ #ShoulderMobility #RibFlare #PosturalRestoration #MobilityTraining

Stop forcing your overhead press if you don’t have the mobility!! This will put your body in bad positioning and rely on compensations to complete the movement. Overtime, this can lead to injuries — which we DONT WANT Build your mobility first. Load it second โ๐ฝ My dads got a little jumbled up since traveling. Fast fix for overhead flexibility... If you are triceps or lats are tight, they will limit your reach. Old-school passive stretch and hold routines never really worked for me, but ...turning the stretch into a workout opened up my mobility faster and the results were more permanent ๐ช When you strengthen a muscle in the stretch, it is more comfortable at that length and doesn't fight against you like it does in passive stretching. Let me know where you're feeling limited in your shoulder and I'll share my best strategies. Comment or message "shoulder" to connect. #overheadmobility #SHOULDERPAIN #crossfit #tightlats #tightshoulders

You can't get overhead because of your rib cage If your arms won't go fully overhead, the shoulders are getting blamed for something the rib cage is doing. When the lower rib cage is pushed forward, the shoulder blades get pinned together in the back. They can't upwardly rotate the way they need to for you to reach overhead. So the range isn't limited because the shoulder is tight. It's limited because the shoulder blade doesn't have a surface to move on. And here's what proves it. Pull your shoulders back hard and hold for 20 seconds. Then try going overhead. It'll feel worse. Tighter, stiffer, more blocked. You just did the thing everyone tells you to do for better posture and it made overhead motion harder. That's not a coincidence. Pulling the shoulders back drives the shoulder blades together and pins them against a rib cage that's already flared forward. You've doubled down on the exact position that was limiting you in the first place. This is why years of shoulder stretching and band pull aparts don't translate to better overhead range for most people. They're mobilizing a joint that isn't restricted while the structure underneath it stays locked in place. The shoulder blade needs to wrap around the rib cage to go overhead. It can't wrap around something that's pushed out in front of it. The rib cage position dictates what the shoulder can do. Not the other way around. Your ribs flare overhead because your core isn't working If your ribs pop out every time you reach overhead, that's not a flexibility issue. It's a position issue. The back side is compressed and the front side is overexpanded, and no amount of stretching changes that equation. Your shoulder blade needs the rib cage as a stable surface to rotate on. When the ribs flare, that surface disappears. The shoulder blade loses its foundation and the overhead range you think you're gaining is actually just your rib cage compensating for a shoulder that can't get there. Stretching feels like progress because it temporarily creates range. But it's borrowed range. The ribs flared to give it to you and everything tightens back up within the hour. The real fix is getting the back side to expand so the front side can come down. Then teaching the core to hold that position while the arms actually move overhead without the rib cage having to cheat. That's the difference between stretching a symptom and owning the range for real. Comment RELIEF and I'll get you the help you need. #ribflare #overheadmobility #compensationpatterns

Overhead athletes, this one’s for you ๐ If your shoulder feels weak overhead, shakes under load, or your press just doesn’t feel locked in — it’s probably not “just” a mobility issue. Here’s the truth most athletes miss: → Mobility without stability = a joint that moves but can’t control load. → Stability without mobility = strength in positions you can’t actually reach. You need both. The range to get into position, AND the control to own it under a barbell, a ball, or your bodyweight. Snatches. Jerks. Strict press. Serves. Throws. Handstands. Every overhead pattern in your sport demands a shoulder that can move freely and lock in when it matters. Train them together and you get: โ Smoother overhead positioning โ A shoulder that holds up to volume โ More power transfer through the lift โ Way less wear and tear over a season Run through these drills 3–4x a week. Five minutes. That’s it. Still feeling unstable after a couple weeks of consistent work? That’s our cue. Book an eval — link in bio. Save this. Send it to a training partner who’s been blaming their shoulder. ๐ #overheadathlete #shouldermobility #shoulderstability

Overhead mobility is criminally underrated. Most people can’t actually get their arms overhead… So what do they do? They press heavier and heavier anyway….. half reps, flared ribs, tight lats doing all the damage. That’s not strength. That’s borrowed time. If your lats are locked up, your shoulders will never move freely overhead. And if you keep loading a position you don’t own, you’re not “progressing” you’re building a liability. These 3 drills fix the problem at the root: Counter stretch (I do these daily around the house) Get Up To Elbow Half Kneeling Windmill These won’t just get you more mobile but you’ll also be stronger where it actually matters. If you don’t fix your overhead mobility and just keep chasing heavier presses, your range will get shorter, your joints will take the hit and your mobility will get worse, not better Earn the position first. Then load it. That’s how you press for life & not just until your shoulders give out. Follow for more tips! #shouldermobility #overheadmobility #kettlebelltraining
